Music Connecting People
Music has no boundaries. When asked what they thought of Shaoxing, members of the Kearsney College choir displayed a thumbs up. “Beautiful! Clean!” they remarked. “Unlike our hometown, the city has many trees and hills.” Members demonstrated that the memory of the opening ceremony was still fresh, recalling the Chinese song “Orchids.” Captain KG Segole remarked, “The melody is so beautiful. I always wanted to learn Chinese or Southern Fujian dialect. I will start with this song.”
What can choirs bring to people’s souls? International Cultural Exchange Foundation Chairman Günter Titsch asserts that choirs help people from different countries understand each other and move closer together. Ultimately, the event will boost the global reputation of Shaoxing after it left a good impression on the thousands of participants from throughout the world.
