Qi Heng is a senior reporter with the News Photo Department of the Xinhua News Agency. In his professional capacity as a photojournalist, he covered the: 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games; 2000 Sydney Olympic Games; 2004 Athens Olympic Games; 2002 Asian Games; FIFA World Cup competitions in 1998 and 2002; FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999 and 2003; 2004 UEFA European Football Championship; European Champion’s Cup; UEFA Champions League; the NBA Finals and numerous other major international sports events.

Qi was also on the scene to report on and record the war in Afghanistan, the deadly earthquake that struck Iran in December 2003, and many other important international news events. Since being assigned to the Los Angeles branch of the Xinhua News Agency in 2005, he has captured approximately 10,000 news images, recording US society through his lens and with his unique perspective.
