The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2014 was held from April 8 to 11 in Hainan Province with the theme “Asia’s New Future: Identifying New Growth Drivers.” The Forum’s three primary topics were reform, innovation, and sustainable development, with an aim to act as an engine accelerating regional Asian cooperation in a deeper, meaningful way.
Founded in 2001 and permanently based in China’s Hainan Province, BFA has become the most important high-end platform for Asia and its emerging economies. Its impact now rivals the Davos World Economic Forum and the Fortune Global Forum in terms of development and cooperation around the globe.
One year ago, soon after he took office as Chinese president, Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of BFA 2013 and made the keynote speech, declaring that the new generation of the Chinese government would commit to intensifying global governance, enhancing harmony in Asia, and promoting peaceful development in the region. Also, he emphasized China’s unwavering stand on reform and opening-up policies.
