“I really appreciate the school for its supportive measures,” says Xiao Yu’s father. “Tuition is free during the compulsory education period, but the Xixin School would rather hire a teacher at its own expense to ensure that no student drops out. This is a great gift for our family.” But the father believes that a purely isolated curriculum may not be good for Xiao Yu’s development. The school therefore offers one-on-one teaching only in major classes like Chinese and mathematics, while encouraging him to join his schoolmates for music and PE.

Seeing his child mature each day, the father is happy and grateful. He also harbors hope for a miracle so that Xiao Yu can one day walk out of his lonely world to lead a normal, healthy life.
