Parrot Gymnasts

Keepers at the Nanning Zoo, Nanning City, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, are training their animals in gymnastics. In the midst of a heat wave, the zoo is working to attract more tourists.

Twins Apart

Formerly conjoined twin sisters in China’s Hunan Province were recently discharged from the hospital after being deemed in good condition by their physicians.

Doctors at the Hunan Children’s Hospital successfully separated the twins on April 1. The girls were born connected from their breastbones to their abdomens. Two weeks after birth, they underwent the surgery.

Spanish Day

On June 20, 69 Cervantes Institutes around the world celebrated A Day of Spanish Language. The purpose of the occasion was to honor the Spanish language as a valuable tool of international communications. On this day, the Cervantes Institute of Beijing hosted activities like exhibitions, gourmet snacking, dancing and concerts. The festivities provided an opportunity for Spanish speakers and lovers of things Spanish to share their enthusiasm.

Parachute Competition

From June 25 to 30, the Juxiang International Parachuting Tournament 2009 was held in Kaifeng City, Henan Province. More than 50 parachutists from China, South Korea and Sri Lanka participated in the tournament, presenting to spectators a world-class parachuting exhibition.
