Travel Destination of the Month
Fairyland Jiuzhaigou Jiuzhaigou, one of China’s top scenic spots, lies in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. In the Chinese language, Jiuzhaigou means “nine-village gully.” It was named after the nine villages still found in the area. Raised 2,000 to 3,100 meters above sea level, it boasts a pleasant climate and beautiful scenery all year round. The scenic spot consists of six parts, most of which are found in a Y-shaped gully. Some believe that the best season to visit is autumn, while others argue in favor of spring, when melting snow feeds the brooks and streams - the icy crystal-clear water is often dubbed the “soul” of the area. Jiuzhaigou is charming for more than its natural splendor. It’s worth visiting for its unique local culture strongly flavored by religion as well as Tibetan and Qiang singing and dancing. Jiuzhaigou’s spring is in full bloom in May with a big temperature contrast between day and night. Veteran visitors suggest taking an overcoat, thin sweater, raincoat, and sunblock for the trip.
